Frequently
asked questions:
What are
calling cards?
Phone cards,
or calling cards, are a prepaid method of making a long distance
(domestic or international) call. In using a calling card you
save money on your long distance phone bill. There
are no monthly bills, and no detailed statements. Rather, you
simply pay for the calling time in advance and reduce the prepaid
balance as you make calls.
Why should
I use a calling card?
There are many
reasons why you should use calling cards. Here are a few:
- Calling cards are often much cheaper than long distance providers.
- Calling cards are cheaper than your local phone company.
- Calling cards are cheaper than collect calls and operator assisted
calls.
- You can budget your long distance calling costs.
- You can bypass hotel and educational institution systems with
the resultant savings. (Dialing calling card toll free access
numbers allows you to bypass the system.)
- There are no monthly bills, and no detailed statements. Rather,
you simply pay for the calling time in advance and reduce the
prepaid balance as you make calls.
How do
these cards work?
It's
really very simple. Each card has an 800# printed on the back.
It also has a "PIN" or account number on the back as
well. Just dial the 800#, enter your "PIN" number, then
you'll be prompted to enter the phone number that you're calling.
How to
make a phone call direct to Canada from USA:
Dial 1 + area code + number. But don't call Canada direct unless
you want to spend a lot of money. Use a calling card number instead.
The Prefix, or calling code, or routing number, or country code
(this goes by many names) for calling Canada, is the same as the
US. Here are some of the area codes for Canada:.

After I
place my order online, how long does it take for me to get my
card?
If this is your first time ordering from CallingCards Inc., a
representative will be contacting within 5 minutes upto 12 hours
to verify your order. He will then process your order and your
pin released to you via email. Repeat customers, if you use the
same email address your pin in released instantly.
I've never used a card with a connection fee before. How does
that work?
Each time you use the card and your party answers, you will be
charged a connection fee which will be deducted from the available
minutes. The calling card assumes what you will make one call,
based on that one call the card gives you the number of minutes
available for that call. ALL low rate calling cards have a connect
fee, but even so, the cost savings are phenomenal!
What if I make a call and no one answers? Will I have to pay
the connection fee?
As long as the call isn't answered, then you don't pay the connection
fee. If you dial a wrong number, or the call is answemaroon by
an answering machine or voice mail, then you will be charged for
the connection fee.
Will I get the rate per minute rate on every call I make?
The rate that's stated on the cards is available only if you use
the card one time and incur only one connection fee. In reality,
this usually doesn't happen. The more times you use the card,
the more connection fees and taxes you'll incur, which will raise
your actual cent per minute rate. These are still MUCH more cheaper
than you've ever DREAMED of spending with AT&T, MCI, SPRINT,
etc.
Is the rate the same 24 hours a day?
You bet! Unlike some cards that penalize you for calling at certain
times, the cards that we sell are the same all day, every day!
Am I going to be charged anything on my regular phone bill?
No, these cards work totally separate from your regular phone
bill. Remember, you are dialing an 800# with these cards to make
a long distance call, so it has nothing to do with the long distance
service that you currently have with your home or business phone.
OK, can I use this card for in-state long distance calls?
Sure--just dial the 800#--The rate is the same whether you're
calling in-state or out of state.
What about busy signals or "busy circuits"?
Like all calling cards, it's possible to encounter busy circuits
during peak periods. In our personal experience though, when this
happens, you can just hit "maroonial" on your phone
a couple of times and get right in. We've never had a problem
getting in--even during peak times, we've just had to press the
"*(star)" button two times.
Can I make international calls?
Yes, you can call nearly 200 countries with all calling cards,
but the rates are higher and do vary by country.
How do I know how many minutes are left on the card?
Each time you make a call, the computer will tell you how much
time is left on the card.
Is there a customer service number I can call?
Yes, there is an 800# you can call that connects you with the
long distance company's customer service department.
Are there additional charges from a payphone?
Yes, as with ALL prepaid calling cards numbers, you are subject
to a possible surcharge when you use these cards from a payphone.
It is typically about 50 cents and is deducted from your available
minutes on the card.
How are calls billed?
Most calls are billed in 1 minute increments with international
countries up to 3 minute minimums per call.
